We are looking to book a trip to Bacarac in October of 2023. The plan is to have the lodge pick us up at Las Mochas airport. Is the ride from the airport to the lodge a long one? Is it safe? Anyone ever fish Bacarac in October? Thank you.

They give you so much beer on that van ride I can't remember how long the trip was, but we had to stop twice to pee on the side of the road so I'm guessing it was about 2 - 2.5 hours. I felt safe, but it could have been beer bravery.

Which lodge are you going to?
Only one has real bass boats. Rangers, Skeeters and Tritons
The others use aluminum V bottom boats. I couldn't image fishing 8-10 hours a day in those things.

Those aluminum boats are fine with me. When in Mexico.....
There was a thread here not long ago about some guys headed down there. Hopefully we will get their report soon.

It’s a lot of fun but I prefer fishing in a real bass boat. Comfort is a bonus. I was down there the first part of January. Fishing was awesome then. Can’t comment on October conditions.

I've fished out the v-bottoms. I had zero problems. They have elevated casting decks. They have two trolling motors, on in the front and one in the back of the boats. Both had spot lock. The guides don't fish and are beyond experts at boat control. In fact, I'm sure the boat control was better than you would have had in a bass boat with only one trolling motor in the front. Was it as comfortable as a bass boat? No, but I'm not an old so it wasn't an issue for me.

Anyone ever fish Baccarac in October? Thank you. October is said to be one of the best months to fish that lake. I've been twice in the last two or three years. The first trip we went commercial from DFW to Mexico City. and had to hop on a Aeromex plane the next morning...Well that WAS our plan... When we got to Aeromex one person was able to get on the plane and the other 7 of us had to wait until the next day to go. Our other seven fisherman's seats were empty on that plane. Also if that flight doesn't have enough seats filled they will not go there until they have a full flight. Do not trust the Mexican airlines! If you go commercial you should take AA to Mazatlán and have your lodge pick you up there. It's not expensive. It does take between 41/2 to 5 Hours Los Moches is 3 1/2 to Baccarac. All the beer you can drink! This time, we took a private plane, King Air to the tune of $2500 per man. We were able to get to the lodge in a day, and get home in a day. It's the ONLY way to get there in one day.

Got back a couple of weeks ago. In our group there were 2 8.5's caught, and one boat that caught 40 5 pounders on there trip. Everyone did catch a 7lb except for me! but I got an 8.4 and 9.3 the last time. If I was going back I'd pick April, or October

It sounds like fishing is improving from last year but still not like it has been prior to the low water levels from summer of 2021.
Watermelon orange which lodge did you go to?

Check out Bacurato Los Torreones. Is right across the street from the airstrip.
Not on the Lake, but we never got to see anything but the lake in daylight.
