I got this email from the state. I know a few years ago they changed things so that some trailers would need to be inspected. I have never had to go for an inspection because of my boat size.

My notification:

This is a notice to let you know the registration for your 2003 RANG VIN ending in 5503 expires at the end of 04/2023.
Before you can renew your vehicle registration, your vehicle must pass an inspection. After your vehicle passes inspection, sign into TxT to renew your registration.
Keep the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) provided to you by your inspection station in the event that you need to provide proof of your vehicle’s passing inspection.

I would get your registration paperwork (and your boats paperwork) out and look at the gross weight listed on the paperwork.
Unless it is showing over 7500#'s gross it should not require an inspection. If it mistakenly has over that weight listed, a trip to a certified scale and a trip to the DMV to get the paperwork corrected may be in order.
Good luck.

I have seen a similar notice about insurance on my trailer renewals. I just ignore it. Go online and try to renew and see what happens. You should not need an inspection on a trailer that has not needed one in the past unless transferring from out of state.

Only trailers with a gross weight over 7500 pounds need a yearly safety inspection.
