It seems like the last four or five times I’ve been out in the past couple of months or so, I am just lost. I’ll never be as good as most folks who are serious about fishing, but I can normally at least put some of the puzzle pieces together.

I skunked for the third straight time today. Once on Waxahachie, once on a big quarry pond, and now on Clark. I started at the dam and fished the entire length of it a couple of times from 1’ out to 20’ before moving on. I fished the banks and points on the south end of the lake that had decent depth nearby out to 10-12’. I never saw any fish grouped up and only found a few small groups of bait near to dam but they didn’t have any fish on them. The water temp was 58-59 degrees and had decent clarity. Wind was 5mph out of the S and SW when I launched at 6:00am and slowly ramped up to 15-20mph by noon. I threw a spinner bait, jerkbait, chatter bait, dragged a jig in deep water, flipped a jig in flooded trees and bushes, ground a crankbait on the rocks, bounced a small under spin swimbait around cover, and even broke out a dropshot. Nothing.

Are they just scattered out and hard to find right now or am I missing something? I definitely have a lot more to learn but I’m starting to question whether I’m actually getting worse.roflmao

What I should be looking for right now and how do you go about fishing it.
How did you, or how would you have, fished this morning?

Been fishing the same lakes. They are dirt shallow. <1ft. Try the south bank across from the airport, they are there in the bushes. Big ones.

Thank you. Well, I’m glad I know what I was doing wrong now. Looking in the wrong direction. 😂
I guess I got the idea of them still relating to deep water stuck in my head and just couldn’t let it go.

Thanks again for the help and congrats on the tournament today.
