Fished Palestine today and tried working shallow but the temp was still a bit off at 60-61 degrees. I caught 1 Crappie, 1 Bass and 1 Sand Bass in 5ft of water....Moved out to 20 feet and caught about 25+. A number of small ones but I kept 14 and some were toads. 3 of them were between 15 1/2 and 16 inches! When I started in deeper water temp was 60. When I left it was up to 61. I expect the temp to get up to 64-65 in the next few days and it should be shallow time.

I just finished deer hunting the end of February. Cleaned my reels and boat and will start fishing
Palestine Monday......3 or 4 times per week. Navarro Mills a 2-3 days per week.
Great time of year.
Thanks for the report.

It's been years since I fished Palestine. The last time I was their I was fishing for crappie and ended up finding a huge area of spawning bluegills. I caught over 125 bull gills but threw most of them back because I did not want to clean that many fish. If I remember correctly I caught one crappie.
