like Harold Taft, Don woods in Tulsa was cut from the same cloth. They didn't have fancy doppler radar and computer models and yet they were mostly right.

I’m beaten down by the over dramatization.
Beautiful day today and this morning’s weather person was standing in front of a screen with lightning and tornados in the background.

gary england is da goat of weathermen.

still remember him in black and white with his storm warnings before much radar was around.

dude could stand there and be telling ya to get in a safe space and you would think he was speaking to a luncheon of bankers.

what a difference tech has made. lol

Our local guy (from down in Beaumont) is really good. And he does a show on gardening tips.

I, like many, thought the weather guy could only forecast what was happening in the here and now and maybe a few hours in advance but Bostwick is really good. I started trusting him in 1992 after Hurricane Andrew ripped through mid-Florida and devastated it with 150mph+ winds and then entered the Gulf headed westward. Folks like The Weather Channel said that SE Tx was going to get blasted by Andrew but Greg came on the air and said it would turn sharply north and go into La. which it did. Went right into the Atchafalaya Basin. Bostwick has been the local guy here for almost 50 years, a rarity to stay in one place like that.

In my opinion, Taft was the GOAT. He was consistently accurate and did not sensationalize what was happening. On the other hand, Rick Mitchell of channel 5 here in DFW can only be described as a "prophet of disaster" predicting doom and despair with the hopes that it will appear! I don't know how he can conceal his bon&r while on the air.

They were predicting the weather version of WW3 last night on most of the news channels.

Taft was definitely the best. He would say “this is what the computer says but this is what I think will happen”. He was right nearly every time. I counted on his forecast when I was guiding.

I only tune into the weather when Kylie on Ch4 is forecasting.

If you want a true beatdown try watching Fox 51 or KETK during one of these overblown events.

This. Would see Taft at the courthouse quite often to give testimony in cases regarding the weather conditions on a certain day and time. I bet half these fools cant even go back and tell you what the weather was like a week ago. Greatest job in the world, can get it wrong five days a week and still have a job

Taft was also a fine man.

Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
