Water is too warm on Squaw for the golden algae to survive, needs to 50 degrees or less

Unfortunately the golden algae kill at Lake Granbury is spreading across the lake. It appears to have hit the crappie, shad, and drum really hard. I have observed dead largemouth bass to 5 pounds and dead catfish estimated around 15 pounds. Sad.

Dang I hope somebody will figure out how to keep this from happening, but you can’t control Mother Nature.

I was all over Whitney this week. I didn’t see any sign of it.

That is great news. I hope it stays that way.

Several adult bass are floating now in Granbury. But the rain may have slowed the golden algae some.
