One of my friends hit a stump at Fork running about 40 and the jackplate broke and the motor came off the back of his boat but not into the boat. That is not the first time I've heard of a jackplate breaking when the lower unit hit a stump.

In that case the Leash could have prevented the motor from entering the cockpit but in this recent case I am not sure it would have.

Both top bolts that the leash attaches to are still intact..

But if the leash was on there. Would they still be intact?

But would he be happy if he paid 300 and it didn't help

We do it all the time Dubee. roflmao

I blow money on all kinds of sh*t. I'm also one of the guys that people claim they see running through stumps with no clue

it is not going to keep the motor from breaking off it is to keep it from coming in the boat at worst if he had it the motor would be in the bottom of the lake

I've got rod and reel combos that cost much more than $300.

If you think you can fill that gap knock yourself out. I’m surprised TH Marine hasn’t bought the idea.

To cover insurance for the lawsuits if it does just slow the motor down instead of stop it because someone hit an underwater bridge rail doing 85.

One of my friends hit a stump at Fork running barely on plane. He hit a stump and the motor clamping bracket broke and the motor came off the transom. Fortunately at the low speed the motor did not come up into the boat but it did separate from the jackplate. The motor was suspended off the transom by the steering cables.

Had he been going faster the motor may have kicked up and come into the boat without a device like the Leash. Hard to say.

Spoke to the man that owned the boat and got the real story. I edited my post.

I guess they could make the boat up 300 bucks and include them…,

For those wanting a cheaper option. 30 bucks, 16k pound capacity in a basket configuration. Just need the attachment to bolt it to the plate or boat.
This is not saying this will work or any advice on using this stuff. I dont know anything about the leash product, just showing an option with tested ratings. I take no liability if someone uses this stuff

For that price you could put two on there and still save a bunch of money

That’s a flat sling, not saying it will or won’t work, it’s just not a finished product like the leash, needs some refinement to look better behind the motor, etc. it’s still baffling that guys spend thousands on a graph and want to save 200 bucks on a life or death product.

We can’t make a graph in our garage. I have thousands in graphs and I make my own graph mounts for practically nothing. I bet I can make a better leash for practically nothing.

Maybe for yourself, selling it is a different story. I debated buying one a few years ago, glad I did. I don’t run water I’m not familiar with but you never know..
