I plan on throwing a drop shot a lot more this year and was curious what is your favorite way to rig this bait.

I would not use a trick worm on a drop shot. Too big and no action. I’d use a roboworm. It does all the work for you.

Half a trick worm works just fine (not the best, but it works)
Agree with roboworms working better.
Nose hook

Use a hook with the weed guard and wacky rig the trick worm. Similar to Steez, I prefer nose hooking a roboworm but from time to time I'll have success hooking the bigger trick worm through the middle.

I use a zoom finesse worm some on a drop shot. Same thing as the trick worm just a little smaller both in length and diameter. It's not my go to drop shot bait, but there are days it does really well. I just texas rig the finesse worm on a 1/0 roboworm hook. Very occasionally I nose hook a finesse worm on a dropshot but it's rare.

I don't nose hook anymore...found these hooks and t-rig all my worms in drop shot. They come through cover with ease, hardly ever miss a bite, and they flat out hold up to the abuse the big fish dole out.

Use light wire in standard cover...medium wire when in the trees.

I use a trick worm all the way until late April, then switch over to a finesse worm out deep.

Best hook in my opinion as well. Rarely ever miss fish on it.

Ditto , and surprisingly doesn't get hung up like you would think. I use the zman (minnowz) which stay on well.

Me to. It's a good hook. Hard to find sometimes though. Some similar hooks on the market that are also good, the Aaron Martens G finesse hooks are good as well. My hook up ratio on both these hooks is exceptional, and it almost never gets hook hung.

I have 2 drop shot set ups in the boat all the time. The first one is a 6-10 baitcaster made by Majorcraft with 12# Invizx with a 1/0 Owner rigging hook and a Zoom finesse worm or robo worm on it with a 1/4 oz skinny drop shot weight. The other set up is a Dobyns 702 which is a 7ft , 2 power rod. I use a 1/0 Owner wide gap hook with a Zoom trick worm on it with 15# test Invizx, and the same 1/4 oz drop shot weight. I also use other brands of worms (Xcite and V&M )that are the same size or length as the trick worm. Both work very well and I alternate between the two during the day fishing to see which they bite the best. As we get into summer I add #3 drop shot rod and reel. This one is a Dobyns 703 rigged with an owner 2/0 wide gap hook and larger worms either straight or ribbon tail worm with a 3/8 oz drop shot weight. It works well on bigger fish. I rig all my baits Txposed. Roger @ Go Fish is at Lake Fork on FM 154 on the left before the bridge if you are headed south makes all kinds of baits and I use his worms also for drop shotting and for a shaky head. He does custom colors also. They work very well also, because they float.
I use a bait caster rod and reel for all my drop shotting.

The drop shot is just a way of presenting your bait in the water above your weight and above the bottom. You don't need super light line and tiny hooks for it to work. I start out fishing it with not much movement, just a slow drag and pause. If I get bit reeling it back to the boat, that tells me that the fish want it moving faster so I shake it more and that usually helps to catch more fish on that day. You will need to experiment to see which way they want it on that day. Sometimes they like a ribbon tail worm better than a straight tail.
You will like fishing the drop shot because it just flat out catches fish.

Zoom Z3 Trick Work - Owner Cover Shot 2/0

I tried for a long time to make the nose hooking work. I got tons of bites and very little catches. Started T-Rigging a trick worm with the Owner Cover Shot hooks. A "game changer" for me. I went from catching 1 in 10 bites to truly catching 9 in 10 bites. The Owner Cover Shot, Roboworm Rebarb, the Gamakatsu G-Finesse Worm Light Hook, all good hooks. The drop shot has become my confidence bait the last 3-4 years. Shallow or deep, it doesn't matter, I have confidence that I'll get bites & actually land them.

Biggest I've caught so far is 10.91 last April on Conroe.

My first drop shot bass was on a watermelon Zoom "finesse" worm hooked wacky style. First cast in clear water to a nice (for me) bedded bass, and she attacked like her life depended on it. No scales but I would estimate her around 4 pounds.

Needless to say, my confidence in that set up shot through the roof though it was probably just lucky timing. Still haven't been able to catch anything on the Roboworms, but I seem to be the only one so it must be user error.

Look up the Zoom Meathead worm, specifically for drop shot-Work well as a jig worm too.
