I'm contemplating adding the VV link to my 250 ProXS 2S so I can read the info on my Lowrance units. Has anyone done this? if so, what do I need to order besides the unit itself? I currently have a Smartcraft gauge that I intend to keep operating. To those of you who have added this do you think the investment was worth it? Thanks.

The VV link is made by Lowrance for Mercury. Its a simple install comes with everything you need to connect to the Motor excluding the NMEA backbone. THere is a company that is very knowledgeable and has great prices on this product. Depending on what smarcraft gauge you have there may be another option to connect your NMEA to get engine data. Check out these guys below.

Larry

Do you know , by chance, what the Lowrance NMEA color codes are. Specifically, what two wires are the Tx and Rx wires? I have a bunch of extra NMEA plugs and I have the backbone installed. I also have a pair of Yamaha Command Link hubs. There is one extra socket available on one of these hubs and I have several extra Yamaha plugs and cables. I know Yamaha uses White as the Tx and Blue as the Rx and I have a set of those two Yamaha wires going to my console HDS power plug. They go to the Blue and Yellow wires I think.
I want to make a Lowrance compatible harness to send communications from the Yamaha version of the NMEA net work to the Lowrance version. So I can use the Lowrance to show motor stuff too. Right now the Yamaha gauges do communicate a little with the Lowrance HDS. It gets its SOG signal via its GPS and also uses the HDS for its water temp and depth.

Thanks.

You can go to the Lowrance website under Support and search for NMEA 2000 and find the connectors that show the pins and wires. Not to be confuse with NMEA 0183 they are different

if you are trying to tap into command LInk Good Luck. Until that came out Lowrance was plug and play direct to the puter and off and running. Since that watched mercury getting all the revenue yamaha had to folllow suit. I am sure that have that pretty locked down in order to sell there boxs for connecting. But is you get a work around might want to sell the document on how to. texas
