Hello, I'm looking for some leads on catching the spring run near New Braunfels. Are there any wading/bank access points? I've tried a bit under the I35 bridge but it might be a bit early. I appreciate any advice!
Thanks,

To the TFF. Side Note: I presume you are targeting White Bass. I do not know of any places near New Braunfels. The San Gabriel River north of Austin and the Nueces River in the George West area will be your best bet.

This is from Texas Parks and Wildlife - The river locations are good. Just like any other spot you're going to have work the area to find them.
From Texas Parks and Wildlife- Canyon Lake has a strong spring white bass run in the Guadalupe River above the reservoir. Rebecca Creek boat ramp is located in the river, and anglers with small boats can easily access the area without crossing open water. Off State Highway (SH) 306 (past the lake) turn south on Eagle Rock Drive which becomes Tanglewood Trail. Go 2.3 miles, and take the first road on the right past “Chapel in the Cove”. Rebecca Creek boat ramp is at the end of this road. Most anglers head upstream to an area called “the rapids” but other areas can be good and less crowded. Look for high spots in the river channel that concentrate fish as they move upstream. The area around Cranes Mill Park is legendary in the winter and early spring as white bass school up, staged for the spawning run up the river. In late spring check the mouth of major creeks. Good Luck!!

Colorado Bend State Park if you are targeting white bass/sand bass spring spawning run in the Hill country areas. If you are going to the state park. You must have reservations ..The gates are closed to anyone that doesn't have a reservation. Yes- they are there in small numbers with lots of small males. We need a lot of rain to push them there. The river is way down from the past years. The boat ramp is closed to trailer boats. You can launch kayaks ,canoes, small carry boats at present.

There’s an old camp ground called big foot on the Guadalupe. You have to drive up and talk to them. No dogs and no kids (college partyers) so no one is ever there. It’s beautiful and been my secret for a while. I know people, mainly kayakers know but…Figured I’ll finally let it go. There’s another one for kayakers so don’t get them confused. It’s at 331 and Weidner. I’ve caught Strippers and yellow cats. I’ve never tried during spring white run. I’m gonna try this weekend but no reason it shouldn’t have some especially since I catch full blood strippers around 10-12lbs. Perfect place to put a recliner hang out and cat fish. Or park at the bridge and follow the river up stream just a bit and it’s good bank fishing.

You won’t find any whites at I-35 try fishing under 311 at the Guad crossing. Might. Might have luck bank fishing there.
