We made it out to Lewisville for the first time since raise in water level and WOW has the lake changed. Unable to get a bite in the first couple of hours in the regular spots, so we took a boat ride to see if we could locate any signs of feeding fish. Found sporatic surfacing around twin poles real late in the day - caught several sandies and 3 hybrids to 22 inches. The last hybrid caught flipped when I was taking out the hook and his gill plate cut the tip of my finger staight off. Lots of blood and pain and we called it a day.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he has to buy rods, aluminum reels, monofilament lines, nets, tackle boxes, lures, spinners, worm rigs, slip sinkers, offset hooks, gore-tex hats, polarized sunglasses, fish finders, depth sounders, radar, boats, trailers, global positioning systems, coolers, six packs...

OUCH I knew those gill plates were sharp, but not that sharp... Pro Master, my son spent all summer making fun of me for using a wash cloth to hold the fish with too, but he shut up REAL quick as I was pulling a gook out of his hand after a small sandie shook loose in his hand while he was removing the hook... I'll stick with everyone making fun of me, my hands are 75% of my living, and it's next to impossible to type with stiches in your fingers

I cut off more than its pectoral fin. I normally release hybrids - but this one is in the fridge for some blackening tommorrow! I still think I bled more.
