Does anyone in here like putting on the waders and walking around in the creeks jigging the brush for crappie.

I do it in creeks but I am casting too white bass. I use waders in coves during the spawn at Lavon to catch crappie.

Gotten a little to old for that, but it was a favorite at one time. Also enjoyed a Bob Brown float tube for many years up in the creeks.

I like to wade shallow coves but Texas creeks can be a bit too surprising sometimes.

Wading is discouraged here in south Texas, as it can be hazardous to your health! eeks

I wade a lot for crappie, it’s all I will do from now until May, I park the boat, get the waders on and get in the middle of the jungle in 1-2 feet of water, I love it.

We have gators too but don’t worry much about them, snakes on the other hand, I probably see on average 10-20 on each fishing trip, hate it when they fall out of the limbs on you but it’s part of it. Rarely see cottonmouths but have almost got popped a time or two by them, they don’t usually leave when approached, they will stand their ground, scary seeing that white mouth a foot above the water waiting to strike.

If you’re going to wade you better move slowly and take caution if the area you are in.

Oh yeah it's my favorite way to catch them during the spawn. I've got a little 4ft. Walmart rod I use to jig around the brush in the coves. So much fun! Even better when it's warm enough to shed the waders. Seen plenty of snakes but I like snakes so they don't bother me. For creeks I use the kayak.
