Much respect to both outfits. Not trying to bash either, and I'd use either just for the record. With that said, what is your opinion between the two of these? I am planning a trip for a group of guys to go Mexico fishing in the near future and I want to utilize the best location for my guys. Looking at a combo trip (Salto and Picachos). Pros and cons of each if you have experienced ??? Everything including but not limited to transportation, food, lodging, guides, equipment..etc...

Thanks guys!

I've only been to Anglers Inn, so I cannot comment on Speed, but I've traveled to fishing lodges all over the world and I can honestly say that AI provides the best service of anywhere I've ever been. I'm aware of some differences, but would never put down another lodge (especially one I've not visited).

My wife and I have put together an "Ultimate Guide to El Salto and Picachos" that will help you no matter which you choose.

Happy to answer questions privately or email us at fishmore@halfpastfirstcast.com

I have only gone with Speed . El Salto

My time spent with them was very good. They took care of us and put us up in a 5 star hotel on the way out and in Mexico.

The food was great and fishing was good but could have been better on my end knowing there were lots of fish shallow in mid May from the Tilpia spawn.

Everyone I spoke to said you will be fishing deep so take lots of deep baits. I did and did not take any shallow baits and they don't have any you can use.

Lets just say that is on me but if I or we would have had square bills or chatter baits or spinner baits we could have boated 150 fish per day my guess.

Yet we averaged 50-65 per day and 8.3 was the biggest.Lots of nets in the water as well. Sorry I know you were not asking about my trip but at least take many baits.

Our guides were great all but one. All the guides but this one worked their tails off. Alfonzo the bus driver was a awesome guy.

I’ve been to Comedero,El Salto and Picachos with Ron Speed .
Lodging, food, guides and staff have been amazing.
Large selection of Lews rods to borrow.
Only gripe is the cost of transportation.
Never been to Anglers, but friends who have say good things.

Anglers Inn for me. When you get pampered, and treated like a king, why try the other one. To see if the other one is not as good?

I'd bet this goes for Ron Speeds clients too.

been to ron speed's picachos,el salto and comendero for past 6 years...couldn't ask for better food or accomodations and fishing has been fantastic...we like to fish 3 days at picachos and 3 days at el slato...last year my son and I caught 563 bass at picachos in 3 1/2 days..biggest was 6.40 but caught a ton of 3-5 lb fish...we fished 3 days at el salto, caught 160 bass with 3 over 8lbs...our group had 7 over 9lbs and one 11lb....(whoever you go with, take plenty of senkos, hooks and weights)...

I've been fishing with Ron Speed for 12 years. The first two years I actually attempted to fish at Angler's Inn but the first time the dates available just didn't work out and the second time the communication for the trip broke down. I can appreciate all the other comments regarding the positives for each outfit but for me the reason I've continued to book with Ron Speed that no one else has mentioned is because of the service I have received from their GM, Bill Mullins. My fishing partner and I have fished Comedero, Salto and Picachos and Bill has handled their end of the deal extraordinarily well. I'm not saying every trip has been perfect but I can say the resolution for the few issues and concerns we have experienced have been handled perfectly. I'm going to suggest before the OP makes his decision he should give Bill a call.

Me and my son are going in March to Anglers Inn for our first time in March. we are fishing 2.5 days at Picachos and 2.5 days at El Salto. Are you able to request a certain guide? If so that guide information would be helpful.
