Dobyns Mike Bucca Bullshad, really a good rod for $169 (maybe a bit more now). 2 to 8 ounces Irod genius III jr swimbait rod 1 to 4 ounces &149 (may be a little light). Irod III Bailey swimbait 3 to 10 ounces $149 I like all three and are pretty budget friendly. Pretty solid advice imo. The Bucca rod is very versatile and a pretty good rod for the money!!

I have a Dobyns Fury Swimbait Rod that I have been pretty happy with for throwing swimbaits and alabama rigs. Can usually find this for $99 or so when the bigger online places run sales. Focused more on a heavy duty reel vs the rod in terms of cost on swimbaits....went with a Lews super duty but almost pulled the trigger on a Shimano Calcutta Link to Dobyns Fury Swimbait Rods

Need a stiffer rod than a 7’3” MH for a 4oz bait. Sorry, that's supposed to be Heavy Fast. My bad. Still not enough rod for a 4oz glide bait. What is the lure weight ration on the Shimano rod you are talking about?

If you get excited (like after catching a big one) and you go to really heave a 4 oz bait on a rod rated to 1.5 oz you will have a two-piece rod very quickly. Ask me how I know. These are great rods for the money. I'm not sponsored by STC but they are a great value. I have the one in the middle. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/02/full-19947-172752-screen_shot_2023_02_19_at_11.54.52_am.png)

I just got this rod a couple weeks ago. Haven't thrown it yet but I sure like the way it feels. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/02/full-19947-172753-screen_shot_2023_02_19_at_11.58.11_am.png) I also like the Levante line up of MegaBass rods. The Aklys is a great middle of the road rod for smaller swim baits. I have a new Leviathan too but haven't used it yet either.

Dobyns 795 SB is the best bang for your buck in my opinion. 7ft 9in, 5 power rod and it handles anything under 5oz with ease! Won’t break the bank either!
