Fished with my Mad Katz brother Metri Lockett Saturday. Metri was in town for the birth of his daughter and asked if I knew anywhere to catch some big fish. I told him I know one place that usually produces some Lake Monsters, the rear deck of The War Machine. We met at the ramp at 8 am and off we went to try and memorialize his daughters birth in slime! Post front and sky high barometer had the fish not wanting to cooperate early but I knew as the day went on it should improve. Boy was I right. Once we figured out what they wanted, we shortened our leaders, downsized our baits to smaller filets, slowed our presentation to .3 mph, and started catching fish. Our 12/0 Minotaur Big Sue Hooks and 10/0 Carolina Smashers from Carolina Lake Weights flat out got it done. We were putting hooks through the top skull and bottom tooth patch of 40 and 50 lbrs. Incredible hooks!!! We ended up with a 55, 52, 50, 4 mid to low 40s and a ton of 15-25 lbrs. Had a great day sharing the boat with Metri and now we are Slime Brothers for life. Next stop CatCon in Louisville Kentucky next weekend! Can’t wait to see all my Catfishing friends and hopefully pick up The Youth Angler of the Year award for Action Jaxon🍀

Man I wanted to be on the water yesterday! Thanks to you guys, I at least got to watch some line stretchin while I was working! Another great day on the Machine! Congrats to Demetri on his new little girl. I know this week will be burned in his memory banks forever! I was hoping for his sake the he would get his PB here in Texas.

Edit: with you hunting and changing thing up to slime everyone, you ever see the distance your dragging the baits back from the boat affect the bite so much? I don't think I have ever seen mentioned of this. You guys drifting so many baits at once, I am sure you have alot of different lengths already, just wondered if you ever see the need to add more length, like if the long lines are the only lines that get the bites?

Thanks everybody! I’m figuring that was one of last epic trips of the season for us. We’ll still catch big fish when they go shallow but not like the winter pattern.

Rowdy, line length from the boat is definitely something I have experimented with over the years. I will start a new thread for this topic.

Yesterday our hits came on the ones that were closer to the boat. They weren't let out very much. That I noticed yesterday.

That’s where ours all came from too brother. We didn’t catch a single fish on a planer board either which never happens. We’ve been catching some of our best fish this year on our shortest lines which are 80-100 ft from the boat on our 2 kicker rods. This is our first year to run the 2 kickers and man I love em. I’m thinking the reason they have been doing so well is we have fished most front or post front all season and we put medium baits on short leader on the kickers.
