Looking at adding a lithium set up for my trolling motor set up. I am running a 36v ultrex my current batteries are due for replacement. My question is what brands should I look at or stay away from? Also are 50ah going to be enough to last a full tournament day or should I look at more? Are the battle born, Dakota worth the extra cash or should I go with Ionic or another brand?

You can go one single 36v 50 amp hour battery and you can run all day but if by chance that one battery quits working for some reason then your literally “dead in the water”. The best setup you can run, budget permitting, is to buy two and run in parallel. This way you can unhook from one and survive on the other. I’ve had great communication with the guys over at Powerhouse Lithium and I purchased two of their 36v 40 amp hour batteries, group 31 size, and they have been great. They also have a Bluetooth app that gives you current status and battery health so you can view at any time. Any other questions, such as charging or anything else then just pm me. https://powerhouselithium.com/products/powerhouse-lithium-36v-40ah-deep-cycle-battery

tiltman for ionics.
I run my garmin force on 36v with 3 of the 50ah and they will fish you a couple of days easy if not in windy conditions, windy you can get a full day easy then quick recharge.
I like the bluetooth feature also.
just be sure your charger will do lithium, I use a minnkota pc40, 4 bank 10a.

I used to would say ionic but the last month mine have been terrible the batteries just keep going to sleep which leaves you with no trolling motor in a tournament and this sucks. First they said it was my charger so I bought a new 370$ charger and it happened again today at noon I was dead in the water with three hours of tournament left to fish. Guess we will see if the warranty holds up or I just waisted a lot of money.

I am very pleased with my Ionic batteries. I installed a NOCO 4X charger and they re charge quickly.

I am very pleased with my Ionic batteries. I installed a NOCO 4X charger and they re charge quickly. second this. I went this way 3 years ago and have excellent results. Just got back from Mexico and day 5 the wind was really strong so I was on the motor heavy from 7 to 4:45 pm and was still at 40 percent when I got back to camp. you can go 3 50 amps or go with just one 36V 60 amp hour or above. it makes no difference, when one of the 3 12V batteries go down your dead just like one 36V going down.

Another vote for Ionics. Been running 3 50's with their charger for almost a year and a half with no issues.

Ionic and 50 amps are plenty. They also charge on Minnkota 460 style charger.
