Me too. Now if my livescope would work in 3 foot of water, that would be cool. grin

It works fine in shallow water! Forward view and mounting on the right side of the TM will help some also since the transducer is kicked up when mounting on that side. thumb

Really, I may try the forward view shallow, have not tried that. I guess you know I always use down view, Mr Paty got me hooked on down view, which really does not do well 10ft or less, the deeper the better for down view.

No need for live scope in a creek during the spawn in my opinion! Get in them creeks and pound them lay overs and banks ! Let’s go get em !!

Y’all have fun chasing this mythical February spawners. Just because they’re shallow doesn’t mean they’re spawning. Earliest I’ve ever seen spawning activity was march 10th and that was in a muddy, warm creek in an ultra warm spring. It’s just simply too cold right now.

Well, a lot of posts on here are:
Had an awesome day fishing for _____. Not gonna tell you exactly where, but I can give you a hint: It's somewhere in a massive lake.

Man just trying to have a little fun sir. So let’s all go get em and share our catches and what we learned this year because looking at this weather next week it’s about to really crank up in my opinion!! Let’s go get em !!

Doesn’t it depend on the weather too ! Have we really had that cold of a winter like last year and the year before ?
I had a pic pop up on my face book from last year and the year before and snow was involved and a lot colder and this year it has been a lot warmer temps ! If I was a betting man looking at next weeks extremely warm weather pattern all week I think it’s about to really start cranking up by mid week and the end of next week as some east Texas lakes are already cranking up. I would be sticking and moving in them creeks preferably on the north end of a lake. Let’s go get em !!

Good Luck,

I was out Tuesday and water temp was 58 degrees. I was on a different kind of mission so I wasn't even looking for crappie, but you can bet that's gonna change in the next couple of days. The actual spawn might not be started yet, but you can't tell me there's not a bunch of sacs cruising around looking for some nice real estate....

Does anyone use live scope in perspective mode to see/locate crappie when they are shallow or spawning in beds?

Good Luck,

"11 hours of daylight" makes a lot of sense. Like ducks, hours of daylight triggers migration, even if it is not frozen over up north.

Daylight has alot to do with it too IMO

Here is some proof that fish spawn earlier than most think. The thing is you have to know where to look and if you don't, you would think the same thing. Just because you haven't found them spawning doesn't mean they aren't.

This is from 2 different years. Both males shallow and colored up! My thought has always been once can always be a fluke and twice is not...

End of this week shows 4 days in a row of lows in the 50s and 60s.. If you aren't looking for spawners during that time, you are missing out.

But McKinney Crappie Catcher says you are wrong LOL

I've caught em on Texoma in February spawning and that lake famously spawns late into May.

Some will just be ready and that's all there is to it.

a round ya, when I see the bluebonnet stems shoot up and a few flowers here and thar, and a few little WREN birds start showing up, I know its starting. . I pay no attention to water temp, or month of spring. That myth burned me for too many seasons.
Also I wont be fishing 17 miles of bankline, in 2 feet of water looking for them.. I will start looking in 18 to 21 feet, and work shallower with the best spawning locations being 5 to 10 feet. yes some of the small males set up nest in very shallow water, and a few decent females come to the nest to check it out, but for the most part, folks will catch mostly barely legal males along banklines.. and thats just fine.
The old myth that the males build the nest, and the females come in on a full moon night and drop thier eggs has always been funny to me.. The males and females link up in groups, and the males release thier milt on the eggs. If you actually catch them doing thier thing, you will catch big females with the eggs spilling out, and big males with the milt dripping out. its kind of rare to catch them in the act of doing this.
white bass do the same thing, largemouth do it in a more single fish manner
most of the small, 1 to 2 year male crappie build thier little nest, hoping for some action, but is not the first choice for the females to go. This is why u rarely catch big females along with the males.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Water temp is everything for fishing. It dictates every single spawning pattern.
