been using 15# big game since forever and a day to throw any and all lures mostly, TFO MH to H most with what I call mf tips, 2 broomsticks/hvy stiff tips.

about to switch half my reels to Pline copolymer in 15 and 17#.

I get hung too often to use braid and only keep 2 hvy reels with 50# for certain stuff. try both and use what you like, half of us will likely agree with ya. grin

teach yourself to automatically do a second hookset when throwing chatterbaits, I do mine as fast as possible after the initial set.

I also make sure the points on the hook are good n sharp, needle sharp.

changed my habits after losing what may have been a 12+ on arbuckle in a tournament, had her for a min. or 2 and first time her head broke water it was over.

I switched from my McCoys 15lb CoPolymer line to Braid a couple of years ago but after using it for a while I ended up missing quite a few fish that I feel like I ripped the bait away from the fish on the hook set. Went back to the CoPolymer line and I really feel like it allows the fish to really hang on to the bait and I get a good hook set without actually pulling the bait out of the fishes mouth. I probably could have altered my hook set differently but just went back to the way I always fished it and don't seem to have that problem anymore and the bait is one of my top 5 baits year round.
