North winds and cold fronts seem to be the repeating weather pattern for us in early February, which has made it increasing tough to stay on the fish consistently here in East Galveston Bay. Two days after the front seems to be when fishing seems to improve the most, but the winter low tides, have made it tougher than it was for us at this time last year. We have been able to catch fish on Corky’s, MirrOlure twitch baits, and Jig heads with tails, but the bites have been tough to come by for us. This week we have found no real concentrations of fish, as it was not uncommon to go over an hour without a bite. The fish were positioned in the deeper channels or on soft mud bottoms, trying to warm up. Winds finally switched out of the southwest by Sunday afternoon, as well as water temperatures rising to the upper 50’s, so fishing should continue to get better before the next front arrives later this week. Spring break is just around the corner, which will be a busy time for us and hopefully we can get some good weather to get out and enjoy God’s beauty on the upper Texas coast.

We are running artificial trips only this month, so hit me up if you want to get out on the water.

Yes, great report. Nice chunker of a fish ... hope it went back for a shot at living to 30" ... be sure to point the fish's head SOUTH!
