If I go out and find some crappie on my fishfinder. Just rig up minnows and throw them out there.
Looking for any advise.

If you find them on sonar, you've got a good chance since you're not fishing unproductive water.

I would tie on a minnow and fish above the crappie you've identified and slowly work your way down. Too many times I've tossed the minnow right on em and they spook.

A tip is to fish close to the "forehead" of the fish. This is so you don't fish below them. Once you see that you have their attention, make them chase the minnow slightly by slowly reeling up and you'll almost certainly hook up

I like spider fishing with jigs. Tie 3 different colors about 10" apart lower them very slow straight down until you get bit or hit bottom. Then lift slowly back up. Once you figure out what color they like best it's not uncommon to catch doubles and sometimes triples. Just be careful not to get hung in the brush pile. I use heavy enough line that I can usually straighten the hook instead of breaking off.

In the early spring when the water is still cold, at times it is easier to catch crappie on small jigs instead of minnows.
