Many males "flex" in America is their pocketbooks. You work hard, you make some jack and you spend it on things you want.
For that reason things that others desire will always get some action because many "buyers" do it as a "flex"

I'm curious as to how many guys on this thread who think he's charging too much per day with all things being equal would be willing take significantly less than their market value per day for what they do for a living. He has virtually no competition for the level of service and proven expertise he is selling. From a business standpoint I'd be highly motivated to find out the maximum amount of money I could charge per day to meet or exceed my expectation for time for seasonal and/or annual earnings. I'd keep running that number up until I found the point of diminishing returns and then turn the dial back as necessary. Truth is, for the client-base he's targeting he might be a long way from pricing himself out of the market.

I had a buddy in the 90's Rick Francis. He was the only guide on the Colorado River below the Hoover dam. He routinely charged 1500 to 2000 per Day, not uncommon to get 1K tips. Most of his clients were professional football players, professional baseball players, and millionaires in general. Real well-known people, they would tell each other what a great time they had, show pictures and how many fish and how big they were and more would call him. ALL Stripers. 20-40 lbs. He was booked solid for months at a time, When the season slowed, he would just enjoy himself, he hunted fished. Made his own lures that sold for $20 a pop. The Rick Francis Day lure. He Loved when he wasn't busy. We would all sit around, and drink beer Smoke weed and help him make his lures. There is a picture in the link below. He would sell out of the lures constantly. They were a wooden dowel, Top water, with a beveled head, The Hook was not permanently connected with the bait. Each was individually painted and signed. When the fish struck the lure would float up the line and not give the fish any ability to use the lure to break the line. He cleaned and bagged the fish, and the resort would cook some and pack the rest for travel. (Really tiny resort) He was such a nice guy and friend to everyone. A real down to earth Country Boy. Eventually a multi- millionaire family who owned all of the orange juice processing plants in California and owned huge cattle ranches. Who had fished with him 100's of times tried to buy Willow beach resort, and then bought a hunting resort catering to millionaires in Cibola. Mostly Goose Hunting. I included Links to both, I heard he finally retired. The market is what the market will pay and for these rich people it wasn't about the money. They could fly into Vegas from anywhere, gamble, clubs. Then a Day on the water to show their wives that it was all wholesome. They just wanted to be treated like regular people for a Day. Here are the current hunting fees listed at the goose resort. Hunting Fees The South Ranch offers opportunities for both group hunts and day shooters. Group Hunting Packages Group packages include lodging, continental breakfast . 12 hunters (min.) โ $2,700 per day + $225.00 for each hunter over 12. 50% deposit is required upon making a reservation. https://www.bdoutdoors.com/forums/threads/51-striper-willow-beach.102212/page-3https://cibolasportsmansclub.wordpress.com/

I support his and every other guide the right to charge $1 or $1million for a guided trip. I think JJ is better at finding huge bass and at $2000 will be booked from 1-2 years out. People hate on him and say he's arrogant and cocky, I don't see it. but if he is, good for him. I would be impossible to fish with or even talk to if I could catch the bass he catches. I would brag every chance I got and charge whatever the highest bidder would pay to take them on a guided trip. But since I can't catch the big bass like him, I'll just keep plugging away as an average angler and watch his videos every time he posts one. THAT'S A FACT, JACK!!

Gotta love the comments from the guys running $50,000-$100,000 boats complaning about $2000 guide trips. This is not to start an argument. Just stating an opinion........ I think with his attitude and price raise, he priced his self out of alot of business. Two things Ive noticed. Josh has gotten very arrogant over the last year since he caught his big fish. The other is a statement that was made by him and Gary Dobyns about being booked 60 days straight. I know for a fact most of January he was not booked and not even on the water alot of days. Now into February he has Gary in the boat one day and 2 so called cancelations so far, and the month just started. Which leads to me saying he may have priced his self out. I think $2k is laughable, honestly. Especially when you are just watching him almost all day. I really feel if he was coming in around $1k a day, he would be booked pretty solid and stay more consistent with his bookings. I also feel he missed a golden opportunity last year to make ALOT of money doing what he was doing. And not from guiding. I'm looking at this from a business stand point. Not just a fishing one. Yours is a Common Sense approach as well.
