I've certainly dropped $2,000 on worse things. Most of us have spent at least that on baits we actually will never throw.

I don't plan on taking a trip with him, but it's a pretty simple supply/demand problem. If he remotely books up at $1000, going to $2000 will make him more money as long as he keeps at least HALF of his business. Which means more free-time, or more opportunity to make money. Who wouldn't? Get it while the gettin' is good.

You guys will be all over him if he drops his pricing $1 and claiming that you "were right". The attraction is a bit much.

I would be more likely to pay $2,000 for an education on using my electronics, that will give me better odds at catching a DD fish each time i'm on the water, than to pay $500 for a trip where I simply go catch fish.

If you are EXPECTING a DD for $2,000, I'd say save your money, you have the wrong expectations.

If you look at it as investing $2,000 to become a better fisherman and be able to better utliize the electronics you have on your boat, you will probably feel like you got your money's worth.

If/when I upgrade to FFS I would more than likely wait and book a trip with him during the offseason. I'm not paying to catch a big fish that day, I'd be paying so that I could better target big fish, EVERY DAY after that.

I'm happy catching a chunk in my little lake, and can be home in 20 minutes. Someday I will go out there and drop the TM and do some sniping on Ivie.

Wish these two fish were the green fish, they hammered the squarbill on the pause. Lost week the monsters were Goo.

Bottom line is people pay to enjoy themselves, it is America and we can play the way we want to and can afford to. We can also establish businesses and charge whatever we want to, the market will dictate our success. Mr. Jones sounds like he is becoming successful in that system. I personally will not be paying to fish with Mr. Jones but I am certainly considering a trip with Slade at some point to learn my electronics better! flag

Sinkey,
He may not want to be booked every day for $1000 a day. If he can work half the number of days for $2000 a day then he makes the same money for half the time. Also, the higher price eliminates the cheaper clientele that usually don’t have the money for the day rate and a reasonable tip. I don’t know him or what his thought process might be but I don’t think what he is doing is anyone business but his. He obviously has a specialty that few other guides are providing. If I wanted to go learn how to use FFS he would be the first person I would book a trip with. Good for him if he can book enough trips at that price otherwise I’m sure he will lower it if needed. Doesn’t affect me or you if he has 60 days solid booked or 6. Let it go man!

I don't understand how people know if he's booked 60 days or not. I mean, I guess if he said publicly that he lost 2 days to cancellations, that's 2 days. Are there guys on here calling him everyday just to ask him if he;s guiding? Are some of you people stalking the guy on facebook or instagram or myspace or whatever just so you can come on TFF and do a "Gotcha" on him because he didn't have a guide trip that particular day?

Those people hung up on him guiding for $2k a day always start every one of their threads with the disclaimer of "I don't care what the guy does...." yet here they are popping up on every JJ thread caring or not caring about what the guy does.

It's funny and kinda creepy but still funny.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

It's Comical how Mr Jones has gotten to some of you guys. He has caught more DD Bass in one day than most of you will catch in a Lifetime, yet some of you feel the need to discredit his accomplishments (Perch, Snagging, Etc..) Who cares if you like the guy or not, lets give credit where credits due.

I support his and every other guide the right to charge $1 or $1million for a guided trip. I think JJ is better at finding huge bass and at $2000 will be booked from 1-2 years out. People hate on him and say he's arrogant and cocky, I don't see it. but if he is, good for him. I would be impossible to fish with or even talk to if I could catch the bass he catches. I would brag every chance I got and charge whatever the highest bidder would pay to take them on a guided trip. But since I can't catch the big bass like him, I'll just keep plugging away as an average angler and watch his videos every time he posts one.
