If near lake Fork, Slade is the man to call. He is on this forum. I don't remember his handle here though

I do not concur with the Slade suggestion. I hired him to help me set my boat up. He did not stay in the boat for much over an hour. he had me pull along side another boat and jumped over to that boat for another billable event. He did seem to know his business. but I expected some time spent with me to practice using the tech and asking questions.. This cost $600,
one hour of watching him race through screens and punching buttons. I got my reference for him here so buyer beware...

Why didn't you ask questions, why not tell him to slow down. You were with one of the smartest individuals on the planet as far as fish finders, and you didn't take advantage?? Who in the world paid $600???? I HIGHLY doubt you were out $600 for a trip with Slade. Why didn't you jump over to the other boat for more instruction??? This makes no sense to me. YOU WERE THERE TO LEARN AND ASK QUESTIONS, and paid for it. MAKES NO SENSE! bang

When I used him he set up my graphs, showed me what he was doing and why. We then proceeded to graph points, roadbeds, and mark fish taking time to explain what I was looking at. We worked on FFS and before we were done he had me drive over some areas, marking fish and setting up on them myself so that I understood what I was doing. His class was the best $450 I had spent. Well worth it.

I agree with Harold. Not anyone any better than Slade on marine electronics. If he can teach an old toot like me something he has to be good!

I used SI and DI to locate bodies and objects (for law enforcement) as a profession for the last 8 years of my career as well as personally using SI/DI and now FFS since each technology came out.

I was blessed to receive training by some of the best people on the planet with the technology. Guess I should start doing some training in my spare time coolio

Read the manual front to back twice. Then go out to the lake and play with the unit on something like a boat ramp. Dial in the 360 heading so your not casting to the wrong place. Then go read the manual twice. Also, you can finesse the freq range on the units to work better, oops did that slip out? You will be surprised at the changes you make when using the unit over time. I rarely use the mega as much as I used to use it. I like offshore structure, and find I'm using 455khz 95% of the time. For SI graphing there are some settings that really shine, but surprisingly the HB units right out of the box work really well. Color pallette can help in some situations to help you see those little shadows.

Good luck

In response to Harold... I was not given an opportunity to ask any further questions.. He asked me to pull along side the other boat .I had no idea he was preparing to leave mine. It was getting late in the day as well.. he was late to the ramp to start with.. If you want to suggest I am a liar or I am in some way misrepresenting this incident feel free to speak. I type this knowing full well Slade may see this .. I dare him to refute this accounting.. Harold, I paid the asking rate of 600 for the set up. Why would I make this up?? Are you his press agent? Careful who you call a liar..

I have to amend my earlier comments.. I looked back through my communications and discovered that I actually paid 400. the fee was 375 but we didn't have change. .. still a lot of money for an hour.. but I apologize for disinformation.

Mr. Ducker, I don't usually get involved in these types of post. But if you had a issue with me or my services why didn't you call me? Also I'm completely up front on my trips and confirmed by text message which you agreed to. I offer setups (which is what you wanted.or I also offer a setup and class. Everytime I leave a customers boat I ask if they are happy. You must of said yes because I would of never left your boat if you were not happy. Ask any customer I have ever had. I wish you would call me because I don't even know who you are by your screen name. Instead of bashing me, call me like a man. I promise I'll make it right.
