This is a good one for those working or trying to get into the industry.

G-man is the #1 ho in the business, but he made that clear because he does not want to be po.
One thing he made clear and is 100% true is you need to look outside the fishing industry to find those sponsors now. You may get a few here and there from companies inside the loop but it will not be enough to carry you throughout the year. Maybe a new reel or rod, maybe a box of lures, but you need to find and show those companies outside the loop you can promote their product.
If I were thinking of getting into the fishing industry as an angler, which I'm not, way too old now but my ticket would be to hit those major bank companies for sponsorship. You will have one of the only banking industries in the business. You could help that bank be a huge part of financing these $100,000 boats. Taking out loans for those trucks. even those super nice travel trailers. you also have to think, who has the money to start with? Banks!
I'm surprised you have not already seen an angler with his boat wrapped with a banking firm, I think it would be a good investment for that bank to sponsor and person and have their name on the water for others to see.
I looked at about 10 years ago and I may well could have gotten PNC bank to bankroll the majority of the money I needed for the Open series. They seemed interested but I backed out before any handshakes were done. I still had a mortgage then, and I was getting some age on me to do all that traveling...I made the right decision as I look back on it now.
If I were 20 years younger...and a better angler I may have taken that route and chanced it.

It's irritating for a hardworking man, with a fishing dream, to pay full pop retail for his equipment to make a living and then see that same manufacturer give money and maybe even a tractor, freely, to a pro angler in exchange for working a trade show, a wrap and a some hashtags.

I'm in the lawn business and I'll never pay for an Exmark mower again.

All sponsors, especially those outside of the fishing industry, should think carefully about the optics of what they do.

Then do well in some tournaments/build social media and get sponsors

Scared money don't make money

Said I would watch a little of it and ended up watching the entire thing over a 4 hour period. As always, he did not disappoint. I have poster on my classroom wall that says "Things tend to work out for those who make the best of how things work out" . I am not sure who should get the credit for that quote, but G Man epitomizes it.
