Here is video #2 of 3 covering Bladed Hazy Eye Slab tactics for winter white bass. The final video will be posted on 02 Feb.

If I speak too slowly for you, and/or the video is too long for you, just increase the playback speed "clicking" on the "gear" icon on the lower right of the video when you're in YouTube; next "click" on Playback Speed, then choose a speed (I suggest no more than 1.5x).

I am home recuperating from shoulder surgery, so, if you have questions, just call or text. I'll never be as available as I am right now!

If the video player doesn't work on your computer, go directly to this link: EASING TACTIC

Bladed Hazy Eyes are available here: SLABS

Enjoy!

Great video, Bob! I’m curious if you ever get bit as the bait is falling? If so, do you try to keep the line tight as you’re dropping the bait so that you could set the hook if you get a bite. Thanks!

As I say this, remember, I am generally guiding folks with little to moderate fishing experience. That said, it takes some experience to: 1) detect a bite on the fall and 2) correctly respond to it. This is beyond the ability of most clients, and it is something that I cannot do a quality job of quickly and efficiently instructing on.

So, I focus on the rise of the bait during which the VAST majority of white bass will strike, and essentially ignore the fall, and, along with it, the very small fraction of the time when strikes on the fall do occur.

When strikes do occur on the fall, I've found that many times the fish are smallish, and came out of a group of small fish which aggressively pursued the lure as it rose upwards. This is something that Live Scope has done a good job of revealing.

By not trying to keep a semi-taut line on the fall, my clients can get their bait back to the bottom more quickly and, over a given length of time, they will be able to generate more "rise cycles" versus letting their baits fall more slowly.

I hope I've answered your question.
