I think so.
A review of records shows you that very rarely, very rare are truly big fish taken off beds. You dont see those big fish on beds. They spawn deeper, earlier and in places you are not looking.
Not sure why guys get so spun up about flipping at a bass they can see on a bed for 3 hours just to land the little male right away and then then spend hours messing with the 3lb female...maybe eventually she bites it, maybe not.
What you think?

It’s ok, but I much prefer summer deep water (12ft +) fishing.

I think you must have checked the wrong records. If all you can catch sight fishing is 3lbers then you are not doing it right.

My customers have taken many over 10 lbs and up to 12.3 from beds and we have hooked up with several bigger than that.
We Had one hooked up in 92 that I thought would have beat the current State Record.
I think Richard McCarty had a customer catch a 14 plus from a bed.
Dennis Canada had his 15 plus from a bed.
Now if you can read the fish and know what it takes to catch him and understand the spawn process then it should never take more than a few minutes.
When teaching customers sometimes you have to crawl before you walk.
Being accurate and quite is key. If you are off by a inch you can be there all day.
Customers struggle with this and get frustrated . I understand . I am just trying to make you better and get a understanding of what they are doing.
You can learn a lot about how a fish reacts to a bait by watching them. .

I voted for bed fishing is fun...but I know one thing. It's not guaranteed and most of the time, the lakes I fish, the water is stained and makes it difficult.

Bed fishing is the funnest way to fish to me, I like playing the game. It can absolutely feast or famine in a tournament situation. Very rarely am I relying on bed fishing as my main pattern in a tournament, I do generally use it if the opportunity presents itself. You can generally estimate the size of the fish and determine if it will help you out as well.

The spawn is fun if you are lucky enough to be on a lake that you can actually see them. Fishing tournaments it seems like I'm always fishing a muddy lake that sight fishing just isn't a great option. If I can't see them I usually always do better trying to back out a little and catch the pre spawn fish coming in.

That's why guys put stinger hooks on their pink worms when bed fishing.

Fishing in Birch one day and that's what I thought. Wasting time on a little ol bedding fish. Next thing I saw was him pulling out a goodun. He didn't have any scales so I weighed it for him. Nearly 14 lbs but I couldn't talk him in to getting a replica Took her home with him

My public lake pb 14.60 was off a bed. I have caught many many 10-13.1 lb bass on public lakes on beds. I lost a massive fish a Camelot bell on a bed. Lake Dixon fouled hooked 25lb bass was on a bed. Probably just as much chance the next state record will be from a bed as livescope. I can see where messing with little fish during tournaments can be yuk.
