Wonder what that number 10 fish from Sam Rayburn would have weighed in Feb? It was 28.75 in length.

I know there have been many fish caught there over the years but not sure if another 10+ has come from that spot. I have not.

The story as I recall reading was that it was a guide that talked him into taking it to weigh. Larry Barnes or someone of that era.

EDIT...Sorry i should have read all the posts before replying

Here is his recounting of the story from 1992

https://www.oklahoman.com/story/news/1992/02/02/lake-fork-yields-another-big-bass/62503485007/

It says who netted the fish but not the guide with the scale

So I was told today by a fellow TFF'er that knows someone that knew the guy that took the fish into his bassboat livewell. He said the person that owned the bassboat was approx 70 yrs old when this happened so he is most likely no longer with us. He could not recall his name however. It was not a Lake Fork guide.

Somebody posted an aerial map of the lake with a pin dropped on that tree. I believe Stevenson was crappie fishing too when he caught Ethel.

Caught on a jig bass fishing.

That is correct. It was a Stanley jig with a Hale's Craw worm. Mark was fishing with Galen & Val Poe that owned Val's Bait & Tackle. At that time it was located between Star Mart and FM 2946. Galen netted the fish then they took it to his store that was on 515 at the time and put her in the minnow vat. They went back out to fish while they waited on David Campbell to arrive from Tyler to get the fish.

Mark's fish kicked off the SAL program in Nov 1986 and was the first fish.
