They eat them in south Louisiana and tell me they are really good white flesh. I can’t get past the slime.

We catch plenty of them in the Sabine River. They are fun to catch!

I caught a lake record bowfin on Somerville a couple years ago. 9lbs in Yegua Creek while fishing for white and crappie. Unfortunately if could not be certified because there was no one to witness the live release for a C&R lake record from TPWD. Previous record was only 4lbs. So... there is a lake record out there in Somerville. I've got the pics to prove it.

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

Most of the ones I have caught have been in the spring time. Caught some on underspin jigs and some on live minnows.

A spinner bait and preferably one you don't mind losing. Most of the ones I've caught have been in the spring.

Years ago their was a bass guy who filmed himself catching a 12 pounder in the river at Ray Hubbard. He posted it own his You tube channel. That was would have been a lake record but he weighted it and released it.
