caugth a few on Rayburn. if your after a bunch seems like Louisiana red river, or the atchafalya basin would be the places to go. have caught a lot more in these places.

I have seen then on Lake Athens but haven't caught one.

They eat them in south Louisiana and tell me they are really good white flesh. I can’t get past the slime.

We catch plenty of them in the Sabine River. They are fun to catch!
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

I caught a lake record bowfin on Somerville a couple years ago. 9lbs in Yegua Creek while fishing for white and crappie. Unfortunately if could not be certified because there was no one to witness the live release for a C&R lake record from TPWD. Previous record was only 4lbs. So... there is a lake record out there in Somerville. I've got the pics to prove it.

What's the best way to catch them? And when? Most of the ones I have caught have been in the spring time. Caught some on underspin jigs and some on live minnows.

What's the best way to catch them? And when? A spinner bait and preferably one you don't mind losing. Most of the ones I've caught have been in the spring.

Years ago their was a bass guy who filmed himself catching a 12 pounder in the river at Ray Hubbard. He posted it own his You tube channel. That was would have been a lake record but he weighted it and released it.
