A 10-20mph wind forecast cancelled the tournament today? Feel like I'm missing something,

I know about forecasts, and it usually blows harder on the water.

To me this is part of the game we play.

I'm in Jasper today and its slight breeze right now.

Hmm, we want 21 foot boats to handle big water. Big water comes, we dont go. Strange. Guided there for 25 years, 10 to 20 winds were not a problem if done properly.

If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

I looked at the Windfinder app and it shows it hit 25 around 7:30-8:00, but has been 10 or less since then. Who knows.

Rayburn with 10mph NW wind is literally 20+ almost guaranteed. Problem is the launch site is at the absolute worst point in the lake with the largest waves. I'm sure it's a liability concern, co-anglers, etc.

Why haven't these organizations elected to go with the trailering situation like any of the large team trails do? We've trailered in much worse conditions and never an issue. Some of these team events are twice the Toyota field and we always figure it out. Just give them a starting time, when to be off the water etc and weigh in.

Even 20 mph is manageable, we have all lunched out of umphrey's with a 20mph N wind. I guess the fear it may get worse around weigh in time is what actually cancelled it.

Wasn't everyone saying the opposite a year or two ago when the guy died on Big O because of an accident in big wind??? Better safe than sorry, it is a fish...

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I think a NW wind like that makes weigh in tough @ umphreys. I used to like the ceremonious aspect of a blast off but now I prefer trailering under all conditions.

It’s a professional trail, not some weekend warrior deal or high school. I am completely aware and all too familiar with the pavilion in 20 mph N winds. It sucks… but is absolutely manageable and shouldn’t be an issue for the caliber of fisherman in the Toyota Series. There’s not even a wind advisory or small craft warning… only active weather warning is a river flood warning for the area. Weird.

Does bring up the question… why does everything on Rayburn come out of the pavilion on the extreme south end instead of mid lake? About the worst place for the mega tournament facility IMO, but that may just be me because we have to run 30+ miles up the lake to get to the juice from there. Lol.

I’ve fished it in 20+ from my 19ft boat. Just gotta be careful and take it easy. But….we trailered.

The facilities and lodging availability near launch site. Parking is unmatched anywhere else on Rayburn when talking about Umphrey's. I'm sure there are other factors too.

It's interesting that they have approved trailering for the Bass Pro Tour before but cancel the day in the Toyota Series instead of allowing it to trailer.
