I use eagle claw duo-lock snaps. Size 1 or 2. With 12lb mono. Never have them straighten out; the knot break first. Unless you forgot to close the snap, it will straighten out. I have good confidence in them.

Been using them for 20ish years. Lost 1 small sand bass on it. Just have to check them from time to time and make sure one clip has not come off because of a snag or something.

And I attach directly to the split ring - think I get better action that way (and less chance of getting in a bind and having it come unclipped).

I use them with the Split Ring and have caught Fork bass up to 8# on them without any issues.
