I can assure you they care very little about the income tickets generate. I can assure you that what they don't like is people abusing the resources, spreading invasive species, and pulling dead bodies out of lakes where people are being unsafe and stupid. Be legal and polite and the interaction will be a good one.
See you on the lake and have a great day!

That is done on the lake…not at the exit to the park. They weren’t there to check live wells at the gate. Haha. Y’all keep thinking all the positive ya want. They were checking boat registrations and vehicle registrations like always. Checking to make sure the money has been pumped into the system. All you can do is be legal, smile and wave. …..and play their game.

I have known no less than 15 Game Wardens in my life including one now that is a very close friend. I have only ever met 1 warden that just generally had a bad attitude every time I was ever around him. Like others have said, if you aren't doing anything wrong and have your stuff in order, it's 5 minutes and generally a very pleasant experience and if you play it right you can get a heck of a fishing report.

Squaw Creek is not private. It is now a park. Anyway, GWs in Texas can go pretty much any where they choose. If SQ were private, you would,by law, need land owners permission to fish it.
If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

I thought it was owned by Luminant. And paying $30 and making a reservation was the same as them giving consent to fish it for the day.

I’m with Steez on this one, they were not protecting any resources while waiting at the gate. I don’t know any bass fishermen that actually keep bass, not many crappie fishermen ever catch their limits much less want to clean that many and if anyone is catfishing who cares what they keep.

I’d rather them check me when I’m leaving, vs being on the lake. Wind blowing and their boats smashing into yours, PITA being checked on the water.

Many years ago when a GW showed up on private land when we were duck hunting, we weren’t concerned about where he could enforce laws. Needless to say, a few guys left with tickets. Of all law enforcement, my view is that they carry the most power. They can pop you whatever sin you commit.
