That's right, my wife and another couple are wanting to go to the Davis Mountains in far west Texas for a week this coming October. So anyone know anything about potential fly fishing. saw one stream- Limpia Creek.
Any information?

I have a sister that's lived outside of Ft. Davis for over twenty years. Not much water out there, and almost no moving water. Limpia creek has water after a big rain, called a flood. I gave her a 12-foot skiff and they take it to Lake BalMoRea(?), at Toyahville to fish. You can go South a bit to the Big Bend National Park and kayak, tube and fish in the Rio Grande River. There's nothing much in the Park, but there's a LOT of it! Pretty, but rough, country. IslandJim

Leave the fly rod at home. Go to the observatory at dusk for star gazing, drive the 40-50 mile loop that runs west of Fort Davis (past the observatory) for the scenery, consider staying at the Indian Lodge in the state park - quite nice. Make a few day trips to towns like Marfa, Alpine and Marathon. Or maybe take the fly rod and see if you can get away with casting into the swimming pool at Balmorhea Springs - there are fish in it.
