Look for the soft wet spot. if it's leaking, back away.....

Turn off valve to water heater, put air compressor on the cold side of your washing machine hose bib, yard will bubble where the leak is

Mine was where it tee'd off to the sprinkler system.

wow genius Agree. I guess you would just have to have the air pressure over the normal 50-60 PSI of the inlet water pressure to force air back out the supply line. Or should you turn off the water at the Street first?

I also have a leak and I have known where it was for a few weeks, but I wasn't gonna fix it before the freeze. I am looking for another excuse to delay fixing it now.

Take a dowel, start at meter and start pressing it into the ground, multiple spots, softest spot is your leak. Look for grass that is more green then the surrounding grass, try testing that ground.

Or should you turn off the water at the Street first? Water off at the street first, then open hose bib outside to get the water out of system faster, then wait for bubbles

Mine was where it tee'd off to the sprinkler system. Very common leak, most irrigation guys can't solder and use pvc compression part to tie in the irrigation system, those tend to leak after a while.
