So are there not supposed to be any cougars in Texas? State-wide?

Mountain lion?

That'd be west Texas. San Saba area westward.

Plenty of them in Texas. I haven't seen anyone say there wasn't

Dubee,

Since you’ve never seen one but hope too and doubt what others are seeing. How are you going to know what you see! Just asking for a friend.

Thanks, Billy

If I can't get a clear in focus picture, then I didn't see it.
And I'm sure if I ever get to see one. It will be in a part of the state where they actually exist

Mountain lions killed in Texas 1983 -2005 (counties per TPWD):

Not sure if there are pics of those in East Texas as according to some they don't occur there. Not sure how those counties reported phantom lion deaths.

Old article from 30 years ago in Texas Monthly reporting 3 cats shot dead in East Texas . . . all phantom cats though.

"Mountain lions are on the rise in Texas. In 1992, 266 sightings and 132 deaths were reported by Parks and Wildlife, mostly in South and West Texas; these figures were up from previous years. But it was in 1991 that the animals really gained attention: Three mountain lions had been sighted and shot in East Texas, an area where they had not existed for decades. One day no one was interested in mountain lions; the next day everyone was."

That's already been posted. It is fake.

Are you really that dense or just playing the part. No one said it's impossible for a transient male to show up in East Texas. That happens and has been documented. Then you post a map showing 5 -7 were killed depending on your definition of east Texas in a 22 year period. That isn't conducive to a breeding population. Look at south Texas. That's a population. Y'all crack me up

Van Zandt county . . . same pic as the link in the Tyler pic above. Not sure where Van Zandt County is but looks like East Texas vs areas west of I-35. Someone should tell this cat to go back west of I-35.

TPWD is not the best source for info on animal ranges and numbers. Hell they don't even have enough GW's.

Among the people who have reported seeing mountain lions, who has said anything about a "breeding population"? Why is the subject being changed from random mountain lion sightings to whether there are thriving populations?
