Just for fun, my last moon shots of 2022 and first of 2023. No special effort, the moon just happened to be up when I was chasing waterfowl shots so I took a few moon shots between flights. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/01/full-2130-167354-mortensen_lunar_07034.jpg) ^^^New Year's Eve, December 31, 2022. The moon phase was Waxing Gibbous, 72 percent illuminated. Distance was 385,996 km. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2023/01/full-2130-167353-mortensen_lunar_5jan2023_08514web.jpg) ^^^My first moon shot of 2023, January 5. Just as the ducks were flying back to the roost at sunset, the nearly full moon rose for the first time of the year. It was 99 percent illuminated at a distance of 403,794 km.

Watched the "Wolf Moon" rise over McClain Lake this afternoon, then followed it home from the Lumberjack Saloon & Eatery in Webb Lake.
Almost didn't need my headlights . . . . . Yes, it was that bright.
Took me 70+ years to learn to appreciate the wonders of God's Creations and how incredibly insignificant we humans are in the grand scheme of "stuff".
Humbled . . . .
