I am thinking I am wanting to get my pilots license... do some flight training.
Is there a recommended airfield to do that in East Texas?
Thanks

Billy Bob Smith has a landing strip in one of his pastures on 154 between Diana and Harleton.

I'll bet someone over at the airport in Greenville does lessons.

Looks like there's a couple in Greenville and another one down by Wills Point. I had to get out of it right after 9/11, as the prices went through the stratosphere. Highly recommend the 172 over a 152. To this day, one of my greatest accomplishments was my first solo. 3 take offs and 3 landings...and didn't even have a stroke! Each plane has it's own personality and hope you go out and have a blast!

I don't know for sure about ETX, but Addison has a great program called Thrust Flight. They have normal flight school(2-3x a week for 4-6months) or accelerated flight school where you can be a licensed private pilot in 2-3 weeks of full-time training and get your instrumental in another 2-3 weeks if you so wish. They also offer programs to become a CFP or commercial airline pilot.
