Spent the weekend on CCL and got some good friends out fishing over the past 3 days. Water temps were in the 51-53 degree range. Dead sticking with 1/2 to 3/4 oz jig heads and flukes in 40-48 ft and Thumping with fish suspended at 26-32 ft! Drifting at .4 to .7 mph and when the winds got too much for the drift socks we just pulled them in and spot locked. The fish hung under the boat with us and we were catching Whites and Hybrids non stop. Caught some magnum white bass and hybrids up to 21 inches with a lot of hybrids that were juveniles under 15 inches. We caught 47 fish on Friday in 2.5 hrs, 89 fish on Saturday in 4 hrs with a morning delay due to the fog and 70 on Sunday in 3.5 hrs. The fishing on area lakes is great!

Were you on the south end of the lake?

We fished Clear creek/Star Harbor, The Dam area in 50 ft and in the large deep basin in front of the Pinnacle and Key Ranch area. Generally this would probably be considered the south area/end of the lake.

Fantastic. I didn’t have the right equipment for a dead stick presentation. I tried Lavon. My sonar had a thick line of what I believe was bait fish in 25 FOW tight to the bottom. No takers on my 5/8 white and chart slabs. then went to the dam and nada. I fished the afternoon on Sunday for 2.5 hours. I haven’t fished the winter months much, I’ll figure it out. I was tempted to try CCL but the weather forecast persuaded me otherwise today. I went on the west side of Lavon and tried catfish. Only one bite and he came off at the boat. It was 4-5 lbs under a cormorant roost. Nothing else to tell today. I have CCL on my radar this year. Great write up and pictures. Looks like a blast!

You ain’t gonna catch any sittin’ on the couch.
