Has anyone used the Reefmaster program to make their own mosaic map of an area of a lake using your side imaging? If so, how good/detailed was the map when you finished?

I have and still use it some. I mainly use it to be able to view side image mosaics from PC / off the lake. As far as building your own contour type map, it seems to process a narrow band of data...seemed like it would take a ton of passes 20 yards apart to create a good contour map.

Have the mosaic's helped you any? Do they seem detailed enough? When graphing how much data can you put on a 32 GB card?

It makes extremely detailed mosaics but only if you make really straight evenly spaced passes across your area of interest. Hit record sonar, go straight at 2-3 mph, end recording at the end of your line, line up about 40-50 feet over for your next pass, hit record, repeat until the area is covered. You can do it all on one recording but it's a little tougher to edit once you get on the computer. You can trim the width of the beam while editing to get the sharpest image. Try to avoid overlapping images because the blending feature blurs more than it helps.

I use it to make maps for my private lake/pond clients. Not sure how well the images export back into the sonar units for use on the water.

Love it. Great for mapping smaller lakes and those not available on Navionics/lakemaster/LakeVu
