A few recent shots from a journey to the Sandhill Crane X, a natural migratory confluence on the Mississippi flyway south of Lake Michigan where 250 species of birds, including waterfowl, flying down the east and west sides of the great lake converge on their flight south.

Never seen that many Sandhill Cranes ! Especially on the ground. Great still shots, the drake Mallard is awesome.

Thanks for the kind words. Re the Sandhills, on average, around 30,000 converge during the peek of migration at Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area in that part of Indiana south of Lake Michigan. It wasn't close to peek the day I was there but still made for a memorable experience.
