You can't Crappie fish comfortably on a TOON.

This was 4 years ago. My Toon now has a new Trolling motor, Ulterra 36V, and Livescope.

That is an awesome setup for fishing!!

I'm looking at getting a fishing/family pontoon boat this year that can get someone in a wheelchair on board with me and maybe pull a tube for the kids occasionally.

Did you have to do much custom work on yours to open up the front like that?
I'd love to have an open bow for fishing sometimes but close it off other times to keep the smaller kids contained better when they're on board.

Nope, my anchor has not been in the water in years. Spot lock on the trolling motor holds it in place just fine.

Nice set up. As ours got totaled last year sitting in front ofmy sons house we finally got another 20 ft. Voyager . It is the fish model and we crappie fish mainly. This time I got a Minn Kota 80lb. that my neighbor gave me. I took my time and set it all up for crappie fishing also. I even got another Humminbird for the trolling motor.

I'm glad to hear you are still fishing your pontoon at 85! I'm 79 so I get to keep my pontoon for another 6 years. Actually, I'm planning on keeping mine till I'm in my mid-90s. Just need to keep it in a slip as I can't launch it by myself anymore. Are you sure you don't want to keep it for a few more years? It's nice to be able go out by yourself when you can't find a fishing buddy in the mood to go out. Or whose mama won't let him go play that day.
roflmao

But as to pontoons being uncomfortable as a fishing platform, I bought my first one in 2010. It already had fishing seats upfront so all I had to do was remove the front door and installed my trolling motor there. It was a great fishing machine and I didn't need to worry about being dumped in the water when a wake boat roared past on plane and bounced me all over the place.

Had to sell it last year and get one with a bigger engine as I'm fishing a much bigger lake now. But it was a great fishing machine and very comfortable with those fishing seats upfront.

Nice.

Picking up my first "real" boat on Friday. Retiring dad's old 14' V nose.

Now I know which pontoon to follow. Keep after those slabs!

Make sure you get a good trailer set up with the pontoon boat. Ive seen people fighting to get them on trailers in the wind many times with two or three people standing in the water trying to push it on the trailer. they are like a huge aluminum can floating on top of the water.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

A good trailer is a must. I can launch and load mine by myself. If you can get anywhere near the center you can drive it right on the trailer. can't miss.

I have decided to sell mine for sure as soon as I can figure out it's value. I will post it on the forum. I done't know if I should leave it fully equipped with the electronics and troll motor or break it down. It sure is great like it is now.

What do you all think?
