It has been 3 years since I drove this. Is the best way 287 South to I-45 ? Avoid the mess on I-20 & 45? Dowdy Ferry road makes me wish for a quick Hari - Kari type death We leave Friday at 0815 Thanks

That's the only route I ever take.

Wave as you come through Midlothian. Just don't forget to take the South Bypass around Ennis. (i.e. don't go through downtown Ennis).
I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us. Hopper

The new bridge in Midlothian and the redone bypass here makes it smooth sailing from Arlington now.

287 to 45 however, if you are going to the west or south side of Hou go down toward Waco and thru College Station, a little more time but easier drive, less traffic overall

Depends on what part of Houston you have to be in. Anything downtown south to bay I go 45. Woody's is a must. Anything Galleria, SW on 59 or West on 10 I go 35W to Waco then 6 and 290 into Houston.
