A pond I made 12 years ago in my backyard has its moments when drought hits it like this year. It's 8' deep and I stocked it with bass and panfish. The water lever was only 3' and I was worried it would freeze, killing the fish. The rainfall we've had in the last 3 weeks - especially within the last 24 hours - has the water up 3' thanks to two PVC pipes connected to two ditches I dug when the pond was made extending from a wetland type area. The water was pouring into the pond via those pipes at a rate of 2 gal. per minute!
My pond is only a couple years old but same situation. Almost full now
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" ā Hunter S. Thompson
Iām just South of Bowie and am 5 ft low over 3+acres. Two small ponds have dried up and another is now a pig wallow. Spring fed creek is about to stop running.
