After I catch them in the net, Gizzard Shad, I cradle each one in my hands before going into the bucket.

People ask why I do this before putting ice on them.

First, I’m thanking them for swimming under my net and dying for a good cause. -But the main thing that I am doing, is within the skin of my hands!

I always love seeing this post! If I lived closer I would purchase some of the "special" shad!!!

I wish like crazy if I could buy some and have those in the freezer, I just live so far off the beaten path, it makes things really difficult at times...

I live close to TarponFly and snagged a bunch of massive gizzards a couple of weeks ago. They were HUGE and super slimy. I just went to pick up another bunch this afternoon and the latest batch are just as good (and as big).

I wish I could catch gizzard shad as big as these, but our man is a guide and clearly knows the secret sauce (or place) that yields the monsters.

I will make a trip to ya'll part of the world soon and I hope to be able to score some of his bait also. I will have it frozen and ready to go once back home in the desert lol... I want to shake hands with a few of you guys if possible and maybe check out your fishing machine and all that good stuff if possible...

But those Gizzard's Tarponfly is getting make great bait for our poor starving cats out here. His bait looks awesome, certainly no body around here has anything like that...
