OK! Finally enough rain that I think I can get my big boat out. Planning to go Friday afternoon and de-winterize it, since it has been hanging around waiting on water for a few months. Hopefully that goes quick and I can get out Friday evening a little while. Planning to fish most of the day on Saturday. NW wind 5-10 and sunny... will take what we can get.
Hearing that CC water is about 60 degrees. Knowing we got some rain on Monday/Tuesday, but not a huge runoff, where would you start looking?
I will have to find some bait. Also know fish will be around the bait... but that usually sounds easier than it is.
All thoughts and conversation appreciated!

Shallow, shallow, shallow... Look for creek inlets where the rains have been coming in. Look on the shallow flats near those inlets, especially when the sun is and has been out for a while. After that I would go mid depths 20ish feet. Edges and ledges...

So Ken, did you launch and if so any joy? That said any time on the water in your boat is a plus, so just be sure to smile and make the most of it.

Oh, now my boat hanging and not able to get out because of no water, that would be tough for me to live with. I might even have a dozer out and dig my slip out if allowed. I hope his motor fires up and he does get to go now.

Ever wonder how many different ways an extra 6 inches could change your life?
I would be fishing right now instead of typing on a computer... LOL.
Have about 14" of water at my dock, and the boat floats, but I could not tell what changes might have happened in my cove, silting in the little bit of channel we have. Also had a big log laying about half way out of the cove. Did not feel like having a 24' tritoon stuck in the mud by myself!
Another 4-6" of water will make it a lot safer. Been 5 months, I guess a little longer won't kill me. Calling for some rain on Monday, and ground is wet, so hope we get good rain and good runoff to raise the lake level.
Hope others on here are catching some fish! Cold weather coming this week, should drop the lake temps a little more.
Tight lines to all for Christmas!

Smart move Ken, and praying we all get some more rain to bring the lakes up and get those kitties feeding...
PS I notice it's going to be down to 9F this coming Friday. Nope nope nope! (of course I bet @Catfish Tim will still be heading out - lol).

Bob, you know Tim is a man's man! LOL
Saw some pictures on FB of him with Stripers and I think he was going duck hunting today? He said it was cold up on Texoma but the Stripers were biting good.
I was planning to deer hunt this morning but couldn't get my 16 yr old out of bed... teenagers!
I have some vacation coming up soon, and will play with a rod or gun one way or another.

Man, what a weekend! Ken I did go up to Texoma Striper fishing on Friday, Saturday was chasing Blues on Lavon and yesterday I was up in Lamar County splashing some ducks. Friday I had my grandson Billy with me. He is down for a visit so I'm trying to get him out as much as possible before he has to go back. Saturday I had Billy and Wyatt out. Bite was tough but we managed a couple. Big fish was 22 pounds. Yesterday was Jer's first hunt. We had a blast. The smile on his face was priceless. He did real good with gun safety and sitting in a cold wet duck blind for hours. Very proud of him. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-115968-165057-20221218_084822.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-115968-165058-20221218_103656_2.jpg)

Ken, I passed up fishing this weekend to do family Christmas time in Louisiana with the in-laws. I did get to do a little deer hunting but had no luck. Wished I had been able to fish. My wife's family lives less than a mile from the Mississippi River. No luck in the woods but plenty of time to daydream of giant blues!
By the way, you are a really patient guy. By this time, I would have moved to another state if I were in your "cedar shoes". One thing about it, when you finally get water, it's gonna be like the first time you had a really good steak or when you discovered melted cheese. Well, it might not be quite like that, but it's gonna be good!
I saw Tim's results and looks like he had the best weekend of any of us. The old "cast & blast" special! What a great time!

Geno - me Patient... no! LOL
Good thing I have been able to mix in a little duck and deer hunting... and this is my silly season at work - Whiskey time of the year. Last 3 months have been very busy with work, traveling some, and just that time of year. Luckily sales have been good so far, but I continue to worry about the economy. Hopefully better before worse.
I am watching the weather about every 30 minutes this morning, as it is raining at CC now. I need the storm front to stall over the lake!
Lake has been a tough pill to swallow the last few months. Lady that lives by us at the lake keeps telling us it happens about every 10-12 years like this. HOPE she is accurate!
TIM... Nice work with the ducks and stripers. As always, you are teaching the kids right and showing them a good time, and the right way to live!
Bob - little cold weather is good for us - teaches us to appreciate the milder weather. Was talking to a good friend in Kansas last night, and they have several days of negative numbers forecast. So guess we will be ok.
Merry Christmas everyone! Remember the reason for the season.
