Pop-R probably about 3 pounds. The one thing I like about top water almost every fish I have caught fishing topwaters in my life time has been around the 3 pound range give or take. I won a tournament on Cypress Springs several years ago with about a 15 pound stringer. Almost all my fish came on a Pop-R.

10.2 at Ivie on a Buzzbait ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-9268-163884-e5c2d843_74ed_4e09_949b_e23f6ae6d29f.jpeg) Dang Killer, that's a beautiful bass! My best was 8.66 on a spook at Fork in Birch about 20 minutes before dark. Cast it out, was pulling out a small backlash, and it sounded like a carp had sucked something off the surface. I looked up and saw the bait was gone. Too bad we didn't have GoPro or cell phones back then. Very cool.

Same with all the 8-9’s I’ve caught on frogs were toilet bowl strikes

I was alone at Ray Roberts and the sun wasn’t up yet. I was alone and trying to take a decent picture was a challenge. It was early December and there had been 3 or 4 warmer days in a row (hmmmm….sound familiar?). When I got to the lake, there was a hatch or swarming of some sort of flying insect. Little fish were popping all over so I decided to try a Yellow Magic. When the bass hit, it was like a toilet flushed and the YM was sucked down. It’s the only bass I’ve ever caught that I couldn’t hold with one hand because it would slide out of my grip.

My biggest as a youngster was an 8.25 on a popper, Otay Lake (around 1969). No photo. Love topwater, in fact, got a few a couple of days ago, not many folks still throwing it with it getting so cold out nowadays. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-5999-163948-11.6ondock_249.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-5999-163951-9.56_pb_elcapitan754k.jpg) Whopper Plopper ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-5999-163950-9.96bass_8.14_390k.jpg)
