Spent the afternoon testing out a new fuel line in my boat and checking in on the bass population.
Water temp was 75-76 and fish were mostly offshore. I threw a big swimbait (Jackal Gigantrel) in shallow water to see what would happen and had a good sized fish follow it to the boat and another solid hit with no hooks up (had a scale stuck on the treble when I checked it though). Checked some trees with a t-rig and hot no love. Saw a few other boats offshore and in trees, but only saw one small bass brought in.
I’ll check back in a few days to see what’s cooking.

Went back yesterday, 12-5.
Wind from the south, strong most of the day making it difficult to fish offshore. That’s where all the big bait balls and bass were. 15-20 feet down over 25-40 feet of water. I tried shallow around the intake and outflow and some creek arms on the eastern shore. Also messed around in the timber. Had a few bumps on a jerk bait, none on plastic, squarebills, or glidebaits. If it wasn’t so windy, I would have tried a c-rig and jog on the points. I threw a deep dive crank, but no players. Very unusual for Fayette to be this slow. Maybe I’ve lost my mojo.

Not unusual in my experience. I've struggle to have good days on Fayette, especially when the wind is kicking up hard. That little lake can become nearly unfishable when that wind is howling.

Kudos for being honest. Everyone talks like Fayette is automatic and most are scared to admit they didn’t catch 100, but it’s far from a guarantee. And it seems it has been very difficult lately.

Yeah, the old “We had over 100 in the boat by lunch and none was under 4lbs” story gets old. There ARE some SOME days like that, but like any other body of water, there are good, bad, and ugly days. Lately, for me at least, it’s been bad to ugly. I’m going to hit some other waters for a bit and then circle back to Fayette. I’ve been seeing a LOT of old nests on sidescan in 10’ of water and more and I can’t help but think the castnetters are having an impact on fish behavior out there. I can’t seem to find shallow fish this fall. Maybe a coincidence but I’m curious to know others’ experience.

The month of November was the slowest month of the year for me (by far) on FCL. But now it's over and time to Re-Set...

The cast netters are ruining the lake by destroying the grass and spawning areas for the fish.
