Yesterday, 12/6, Mr Patton joined me for another round of chasing birds and chunking those Thump Daddy swim baits. We targeted windblown points at dawn, and moved out deeper as the seagulls and loons started doing their thing. The birds showed up later they had been, but once they got fired off, we had ourselves one heck of a grand finale.
Today, 12/7, was not as easy as it has been the last 6-8 weeks. I put the fishing in fishing guide, and showed Mr Layne the “scenic route” of Lake Whitney aka I burned a lot of fuel. Although we did eventually grind out his limit with a sandbass kicker, it took several hours. The birds still hadn’t started working as of noon, so maybe this afternoon was better. The other odd thing about this morning, was we probably had as many short fish in one fishing trip, as I’ve had total since late October. Oh well, first world problems I guess.
My number one setup continues to be a tandem rigged Heavy Glow Thump Boss on a one ounce head, paired with a Paul Spraggins’ bucktail teaser.
