I'm always amazed at how many people aren't capable of doing the simplest of projects. $700 for a wax ring?

Son of a bitch. I need to come be a plumber there

That’s what it would be in Tulsa with any of the flat rate plumbers.

You could charge like that around Jay but you wouldn’t get paid very often

get 3 quotes, look at scope of work in their contract and go from there.

if you want to learn to set tile I suggest you start on a floor. I used to tile our houses in colorado and the bathroom is one place a wrong move can be really costly later.

Everything new except cabinets which we painted. Only labor paid for was the granite Countertop and the granite trim below the shower door installed.

If a contractor does it, be prepared to wait a LONG time - amazes me how long ours is taking

Did it all ourselves and came out great. I did use an acrylic wrap by Kohler for the shower and wish I had gone tile. The wrap was a bit of a PIA as everything needs to be pretty square which is hard to achieve in an older home.

Now I've been "ordered" to do the Master BR. I said sure, soon as hunting season is over. Gonna install an acrylic freestanding soaker tub and a larger walk in shower.

Get her a squatty potty and she'll be happy.

Dude, check the references of whoever you hire. Seriously. Contractors can be great, or they can SUCK! Drive around your neighborhood and see if anyone is doing a remodel, then ask if you can check it out. We had two contractors, because my mom got in a hurry. The first one took SIX FREAKING WEEKS to rip out a tub/shower combo and install a tiled walk-in shower, paint the cabinets, paint the bathroom (which has to be redone AGAIN because the idiot used oil based) and replace the sink and counter. SIX WEEKS! Second contractor that we got from our neighbor redid the kitchen, painted the living room, replaced all the crown molding and baseboards, changed out all the plugs/switches and was done in about 2 weeks...and the living room had to be painted twice because Sherwin Williams gave us the wrong paint. Dude was awesome.

Get a really good showerhead and make certain it's a good 6" to 10" taller than the tallest person in your family...and get a shower neck that puts it over you head. Makes a HUGE difference. And as it's been stated before make certain that shower pan is done correctly. Had to have ours redone, but fortunately, my father was a plumber and I had to do that **** when I was in my teens and noticed it was wrong before the tile went down.

If you are redoing the shower I highly suggest putting in the option for a rain shower head. I did mine about 10 months ago and the contractor talked me into adding it and a diverter valve from the main head. It comes in handy after mowing the lawn, being all sweaty and turning it all the way cold to cool off. I don’t use it much but it was worth $250 bucks.
