never been here..
is this a good lake to fish this time of the year? Looks very shallow was thinking it would hold heat better..
Is there safety concerns on where to run or not to run?
Preferred safe ramp to launch at while fishing by your self?
thanks for the info

Mo No Yes - no real lanes and full of timber we had no problems with our stuff. we launched a couple of different places around the lake over a month period FWIW, if your leaving from Emory and headed there............ your going to pass some fine fishing lakes just to get to that mudhole.

Go to Caddo if you've never been. It's an awesome lake to be on even if the bite is not on. But I always catch at least a few when I've been.

It's one of those lakes I'd like to visit as well, mainly because you don't hear much about it. I have heard it is a mudhole though

It's a good crappie and catfish lake. Full of stumps though.

WP is a typical NE TX lake.... relatively shallow, full of stumps, and an excellent fishery.....particularly for bass.....at times. When it's on a 25lb + bag is very possible....or larger.....numbers as well.
But, IMOP, it's not as good as Pines or obviously Fork. Btw, Caddo is a must see.....

Had a regional qualifier on it a few years back. Fun little lake. Bass will outright tear up a jig and a spinnerbait out there. But it is the shallowest lake I have ever fished. You can stop in the middle of the lake and its only 8' deep. Use the water bottle trick for your TM and hit all the shallow laydowns you can. I didn't go up the river much because of the idle time it took to get back there.

Wright Patman is a sleeper lake. If you want to delve off into a new body of water and aren't terrified of new water, you'll do just fine. FYI, April is the best time to go.....
