What if they were born on a plane over texas airspace but landed in kansas? Technically Texan  How about on a boat in the red river? That would make you an Okie. Oklahoma owns to the vegetation line on the Texas side.

If you moved here from anywhere else, you are a Yankee and always will be. Texans are born in Texas! I don't think those born in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama consider themselves Yanks LOL

Non native Texas residents shouldn't have to pay property tax. I mean after all they aren't Texans. Hail yeah man, that would work  OR it could be said that all non native Texas residents should pay all the taxes for the privilege of living here. I second Allson1 motion.

"native Texan" born in Texas and matters not where they currently live they are still Texan.
"Texan" anyone who lives in the state and respects the Texan culture and ways, they do not put beans in no damn chili either.

You can call yourself anything you want but IMHO being a Texan means being born in Texas…and staying there  I'm still a Texam regardless of your opinion. In my opinion my current situation has the spirit of Texas all over it. I came up here out of duty to my parents. I stayed because I met someone who needed the backbone, loyalty, and fight of a Texan. I sacrificed being in the place I love, for the people I love. And a true Texan will walk through the fires of hell for those they love.  I got your six, I bet derek does too.

north Texas and Oklahoma territory is my family history. used to be able to see the foundation of where my grandfather was born in platt national park, was on the west side of the highway. we go way back but I was born at port hueneme naval base now I am confused.

If you have to ask....you're not. This. And the chili queens and Texas cowboys on the trail put beans in the chili. No beans in chili sounds like some kind of California exotic meal. Maybe metro sexual even.

Texas on your birth certificate = Texan.
Anything else = not a Texan.
